About this model
The Canon PowerShot SX40 HS is a bridge camera that combines a high-magnification zoom lens with compact-camera simplicity. Its 12.1-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5 processor deliver good low-light performance and fast operation. The 35x optical zoom covers an enormous 24-840mm equivalent range, letting you capture wide landscapes and distant subjects without changing lenses. A 2.7-inch vari-angle LCD makes framing easy from odd angles, while the electronic viewfinder helps in bright light. Full HD 1080p video with stereo sound and optical zoom is available, along with manual controls for those who want to learn. The SX40 HS is ideal for travel, wildlife and everyday photography when you need versatility without the bulk of a DSLR kit.
