Its 17-70mm range covers wide-angle to short telephoto (roughly 27-112mm equivalent), making it suitable for landscapes, portraits and travel. The variable f/2.8-4 maximum aperture is brighter than typical kit lenses, helping in low light and giving more control over depth of field. Optical Stabilisation reduces blur from camera shake, while the Hyper Sonic Motor provides fast, quiet autofocus with full-time manual override. With a minimum focus distance of 22cm and a maximum magnification of 1:2.7, it can focus close enough for near-macro shots of flowers, insects and details. Please note: this lens is designed for APS-C sensor cameras and is not suitable for full-frame Canon bodies.
