About this model
The Sony Alpha A7S II is a full-frame mirrorless camera built around a 12.2-megapixel sensor with unusually large photosites, which is why it performs so well in very low light. Sensitivity runs from ISO 100 to 102400, expandable to 50–409600. The sensor reads out full width for 4K video, so movies are recorded internally without line skipping. A five-axis in-body stabilisation system steadies both stills and video, including with adapted lenses. The electronic viewfinder and tilting screen help with framing at awkward angles, and the compact body takes Sony's E-mount lenses. It suits night, event and video shooters who value clean high-ISO footage over high resolution.
