About this model
The Sony DSC-HX99 is a travel compact built around an enormous zoom range in a genuinely pocketable body. Its 24–720mm equivalent Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens covers wide-angle to far-off subjects, with optical stabilisation to help at the long end. The 18.2-megapixel 1/2.3-inch sensor and BIONZ X processor deliver detailed stills and 4K video, while the pop-up 0.2-inch OLED viewfinder gives a clear eye-level view in bright sun. A 180-degree tilting touchscreen suits selfies and low angles, and the camera shoots RAW as well as JPEG. It is a practical all-in-one for travel, wildlife and everyday carry when you want reach without carrying a bag of lenses.
