About this model
The Nikon AF-S DX 55-200mm f/4-5.6G VR IF-ED is a compact telephoto zoom designed for Nikon DX-format DSLRs. It covers a versatile 55-200mm range (equivalent to 82.5-300mm on a 35mm camera), ideal for portraits, wildlife, sports and travel. Vibration Reduction compensates for camera shake, allowing sharper handheld images at slower shutter speeds. The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) provides fast, quiet autofocus with full-time manual override. Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass elements reduce chromatic aberration for clear, high-contrast images. Its lightweight design makes it an excellent companion to standard kit lenses.

Compatibility
Fits Nikon DX-format DSLRs with an F-mount. Autofocus works on all Nikon DSLRs, including entry-level bodies without a built-in focus motor (e.g., D3000, D5000 series), because the lens has its own Silent Wave Motor. Also compatible with Nikon Z mirrorless cameras via the FTZ mount adapter. Uses 52mm filters.
Questions about this model
Will this lens autofocus on my Nikon D3400?
Yes. The D3400 does not have a built-in focus motor, but this lens has a Silent Wave Motor, so it will autofocus.
Is this lens compatible with full-frame Nikon cameras?
It is designed for DX-format cameras. On a full-frame body, the camera can automatically switch to DX crop mode, reducing resolution.
Does this lens have image stabilisation?
Yes, it features Nikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) technology to reduce camera shake.
